Rotacaster Multi Directional Wheels
At Magnus, we carry Rotacaster wheels: robust wheels combining a 360 degree movement with the stability of a fixed mounting. Rotacaster wheels are unique in their patented design with a web-like construction which uses rollers rather than a swivel mount to create an omni-directional or multi-directional wheel with a range of applications and benefits.
Multi-Directional Wheels
The Rotacaster is a patented multi-directional wheel (also called omni-wheels) that, while fixed in a primary orientation, can facilitate movement in any direction without the need of a traditional swivel mount. While multi-directional wheels have been used for some time in conveyor and light-duty robotics applications, the Rotacaster multi-directional wheel is engineered to provide the additional robustness, durability and ride quality necessary for use as an industrial floor wheel.

Benefits
- 360 degree movement and rotation
- Greater load stability
- Easier directional control and tracking
- Greater control on inclines via primary axis tracking
- Precision placement - no offset movement
- Minimal space / housing requirements
- Non-marking polyurethane rollers
- Long-life robustness and durability
- Corrosion-resistant - full polymer wheel
Applications
- Material handling equipment (hand trucks, trolleys, dollies, carts, skates, etc.)
- Shopping carts and luggage
- Freezer duty trolleys and carts
- Conveyor transfers, pipe rollers and other inverted applications
- Ball transfer table alternatives * Mobile furniture, appliances and work benches
- Robotics
History
Rotacaster Wheel Limited is a young, Australian company with a focus on innovative product design. We’ve taken an age old concept and put a new twist on it, developing a true alternative to the swivel caster.
The original concept for the Rotacaster multi-directional wheel was developed by founder, Henry Guile, whose inspiration came from the Bible.
The first chapter of Ezekiel describes a vehicle with four wheels and “their appearance and their work was as if it were a wheel in the middle of a wheel.” From this simple idea, the Ezekiel Wheel was born.
Henry worked on his wheel for many years, but his dream was never fully realized. Many years later, Henry’s son, Graham, revisted his father’s early work, re-engineering the wheel into the Rotacaster wheel of today - a sturdy, robust wheel, adaptable to a vast array of applications and the solution to the many short falls of the traditional swivel caster.
Rotacaster
Sold throughout Australia and exported around the world, the Rotacaster is used as a floor wheel, a conveyor wheel and in applications such as hand carts and trolleys, material handling equipment, robotics, mobile furniture, pipe rollers and as an alternative to ball transfer units.
At Rotacaster Wheel Limited, we believe our unique product has the potential to become an icon for the future, and can offer real solutions to our customers.

Patented Construction
Manufactured from engineering polymers, the Rotacaster’s injection-molded, weblike structure and over-molded rollers, ensure not only a durable and robust wheel, but one with no pins, inserts or seams, making it ideal for tough environments.

The fixed orientation of the wheel facilitates both simple and stable mounting alternatives that improve load stability and are less prone to impact damage. This also allows for the wheel to be housed within a product with minimal space or clearance requirements.
